Set Up Your Tablet as a Kiosk

Lock the browser so guests can't leave the kiosk page

Any device works — an iPad, an Android tablet, a spare phone, or a laptop. Open your launch link in any browser and optionally Add to Home Screen for a full-screen, app-like launch. The steps below show how to lock it so guests can't accidentally navigate away.

Uses Guided Access — a built-in iOS/iPadOS feature that locks the device to a single app. Apple support →

  1. Enable Guided Access On the iPad go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access and toggle it on. Optionally set a passcode under Passcode Settings so only you can exit.
  2. Open the launch link in Safari Paste your launch link into Safari and load the kiosk. For a cleaner experience, tap Share → Add to Home Screen first, then open from the Home Screen icon.
  3. Start Guided Access Triple-click the Side button (Face ID devices) or the Home button (Touch ID devices). Tap Start. The device is now locked to Safari.
  4. To exit later Triple-click the same button, enter your Guided Access passcode, and tap End.
Practical tips
  • Keep the screen awake. On iOS: Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never. On Android: Settings → Display → Screen Timeout → Never (or use the kiosk app's always-on setting). Some kiosk apps also manage this automatically.
  • Keep it plugged in. A permanently awake screen drains the battery fast. Run a charging cable to a counter outlet.
  • Use a tablet stand. Any counter stand or adjustable arm works — place it at a comfortable tap height for guests.
  • Print your signage card (above) and set it next to the tablet so guests know it's interactive.
  • Test it first. Use the Test button above, walk through a guest action, and confirm everything looks right before placing the device.

We don't sell hardware. These are standard device features and third-party apps that work well with any web-based kiosk. Any modern tablet or phone running a current browser will work.

Config is encoded in the URL — no server needed for v1.
